N.Y.C. Mayor Declares Kurt S. Adler Day
August 28, 2006

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced that Aug. 14, 2006, was "Kurt S. Adler Day." The day honors the firm and celebrates two major milestones: the company's 60th anniversary and the opening of its new wholesale showroom in Manhattan.

In a Proclamation, Mayor Bloomberg said, "Both of these achievements are testaments to the strength of this company, which remains a family-run business. New York City salutes the team at Kurt S. Adler for their significant contributions to our city's economy and holiday spirit and wishes its continued success in the Big Apple."

Ron Melichar, executive director of Contract Management, presented the Proclamation on behalf of Mayor Bloomberg for the New York City Department of Small Business Services to the Adler Family during the Grand Opening of the Kurt S. Adler Showroom, located at 7 W. 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan during the Summer New York Gift Show.

The Mayor's Proclamation also said, "Christmas is a special time of the year all over the world, but it is an especially majestic even in the Big Apple. From Rockefeller Center to Macy's window displays, New York City is transformed into Santa's second home during the month of December. The Christmas tree is an integral part of the holiday season, and no holiday tree can be complete without the addition of beautiful ornaments. Fortunately, New York City is home to the headquarters of Kurt S. Adler, Inc., the world's leading importer of holiday ornaments and decorative accessories. Since 1946, the company has helped millions of customers celebrate the Christmas season with its wide selection of holiday decorations."
